Dr. Duaa Sharfi, Dr. Sarah DeVries, Dr. Priyanka Patel and Dr. Riddhi Patel join CAEI’s legacy of care
CHICAGO – (Sept. 23, 2024) – Chicago Arbor Eye Institute (CAEI) is proud to welcome four accomplished female physicians to its world-class team, which collectively offers over 200 years of experience across eight locations. Joining the practice are Dr. Duaa Sharfi, a skilled ophthalmologist, alongside optometrists Dr. Priyanka Patel, Dr. Riddhi Patel, and Dr. Sarah DeVries. Their expertise further strengthens CAEI’s commitment to delivering comprehensive eye care services throughout Chicagoland.

Dr. Duaa Sharfi is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery. She earned her undergraduate degree in neuroscience from the University of Illinois at Chicago, graduating magna cum laude, and received her medical degree from the same institution, with a focus on Global Medicine. Dr. Sharfi completed her residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, Mount Sinai, and her fellowship in Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Emory University. She is fluent in English and Arabic, and conversational in Tagalog. Dr. Duaa Sharfi will be seeing patients at their Jefferson Park and Merrionette Park locations.
Dr. Sarah DeVries is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry and specializes in ocular disease. She earned her Bachelor of Science in pre-professional biomedical sciences from Grand Valley State University and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry, graduating with Highest Distinction. Dr. DeVries completed her residency in ocular disease at the Illinois College of Optometry and has gained valuable experience through externships at Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center and Cherry Health.
Dr. Priyanka Patel, originally from Florida, is a board-certified optometrist with extensive training from top institutions including the Edward Hines VA Hospital, Loyola University Medical Center, and Illinois Eye Institute. Dr. Patel’s expertise includes comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fitting, and disease management. She is fluent in English and Gujarati, with conversational skills in Hindi.
Dr. Riddhi Patel earned her Bachelor of Science in biology from Saint Louis University and her Doctorate of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry. Her training includes externships at Tallahassee VA Health Care Center, Illinois Eye Institute, MyEyeDr., and Michiana Eye Center, followed by a residency in ocular disease at the University of Chicago Medicine. She is fluent in English and Gujarati.
Doctors Sarah DeVries, Priyanka Patel and Riddhi Patel will see patients at their Homewood, Merrionette Park and Orland Park locations. All four doctors are now accepting new patients and look forward to contributing to the ongoing success of Chicago Arbor Eye Institute.
